Issue #6: Lukas Gage in the Multiverse of Madness
Wizard, or just a very popular man? SEND ME THE LINK investigates.
Hello you!
Not to be all like, it’s my birthday, but, it’s my birthday! I’m 30 today, and I gotta say, it feels really good.
30 used to be the scary age to me - it’s when I thought I should be settled down in a long term relationship, know definitively which style of sunglasses best frame my face, and finally graduate from throwing clothes into a limbo pile on the floor to militantly organizing them in my gorgeous walk in closet (el oh el yea right).
I’m here to tell you, sweet reader, that it’s actually 😎 extremely 😎 cool 😎 to be 30 and still figuring it out. The big secret is, no one knows anything! Everyone’s faking it! We’re truly all just trying to get through each day as unscathed as possible, and if you can layer in moments of joy on top of that, you’re in a pretty good place, brother.
Writing this newsletter and connecting with all of you has been such a bright spot in the last year of my 20s. I started writing SEND ME THE LINK during a pretty intense period of depression, and it’s brought me so much joy to share recommendations and random pop culture musings with you. Truly, thank you for your support. You’ve helped me in ways you don’t even know.
As always, feel free to share this newsletter with someone you think would enjoy it. If you don’t, it’s actually considered cyberbullying :) in which case, I will see you in court :)

What I’m into right now:
My pal Alec and I have a binding agreement to see any Tom Cruise movie on opening night at the IMAX. Does this mean we get there 40 minutes early to get good seats? Yes! Is the theater mostly filled with bros wearing backwards hats? Also yes! And guess what reader? It’s a damn joy every time to see That Man™ sprint across the screen to rescue/escape/fly/splunk/kick/whatever with a theater full of fellow Cruise-heads.

Top Gun: Maverick is a perfect sequel in my opinion. It manages to enhance the first film (which let’s be honest, is kind of bad) by building on some of its key plotlines, paying homage to the original without being too corny, and majorly upping the stunts. It’s also pretty nondescript in regards to who the “enemy” is so it doesn’t feel too much likes straight up Air Force propaganda. Okay maybe it’s a little propaganda-y but it’s such a fun ride that I don’t even care. Go see this if you want to hoot and holler with a crowd and maybe even cry a little (I did!).
The BeReal App
I may be growing tired in my old age, but luckily I have Gen Z neighbors to keep me young. They introduced me to my new favorite app, BeReal which prompts you daily to share a photo of whatever you’re doing in that moment. Unlike Instagram, you can’t upload anything from your camera roll hence you’re BEING REAL and ~unfiltered~. Granted, most of my posts are me in my pajamas working from home (I DO have friends), but it’s been a really fun way to connect with pals every day.
Minx, HBOmax
Minx is great to watch if you need a win (read: a reliably funny and smart feel-gooder). The series follows as aspiring feminist journalist (played by Ophelia Lovibond) that teams up with the head of a porn magazine (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. The costume design in this show is excellent, and the cast is great. Also, so many penises. Move over, episode 1 of Euphoria!
Speaking of Euphoria, do we think Lukas Gage is a real person? I’m kind of convinced he’s either a Lil Miquela robot industry plant or some kind of universe bending sorcerer because that man seems to know everyone. His birthday was last week and he reposted approx 112 Instagram stories from such a randomly cool group of celebrities (Iris Apatow, Jeremy O. Harris, Paris Hilton, Heather Gay from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City to name a few). How do you even have that many friends? I can barely keep up with 2-5 I have! Anyways, he seems like a very nice android and if I don’t get as many Instagram birthday shout-outs as him, I’ll riot<3
More to consider:
Bowen Yang’s Favorite Things from Wirecutter. I will buy/eat anything Bowen Yang recommends, especially if Quinta Brunson co-signs it.
The trailer for FX’s The Bear (coming to Hulu on June 23rd) just dropped and I will be watching for one of my favorite comedians, Ayo Edebiri, and the fact that sandwiches are a central part of the plot line.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry is a fun and breezy summer read with a classic enemies-to-lovers trope.

I’ve been really enjoying looking at flash sheets by local tattoo artist @the_neighborhood_cat on Instagram. Their style is so unique and freaky, and I’ve never seen tattoos like them before.
The new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is sooo good. I’m in awe of the talent but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since it’s an all-winners season. I think Shea Couleé could hit me with her car and I would thank her. And wow, I missed Jinx Monsoon so much. Narcoleptic Jewish representation matters. You can watch on Paramount+
I love gossip especially when I have zero personal connection to it, so this article about swinging Mormon TikTok moms on Gawker is an excellent read.
I’ve mentioned the film Cha Cha Real Smooth in a past newsletter, but I’m plugging it here again because the trailer is finally out. I saw this movie at Sundance and loved it - writer/director Cooper Raiff has a talent for making feel good coming of age stories. It co-stars Dakota Johnson and comes to AppleTV+ on June 17th.
Aminatou Sow’s (@aminatou) is a great follow in general, but her TikTok/Meme dumps on her Instagram stories are one of my favorite things on the internet right now.
Bear Brook, an investigative podcast about a decades-long mystery that led to finding a serial killer, is a great binge. The story is wild and the reporting is really good.
I always like to have postcards on hand for spontaneous snail mail. I just bought these from Naoishi. Cute!
Next up on my quest to get through my Letterboxd watchlist is Fire Island (!!) and Parallel Mothers.
That’s all for this month! Please enjoy this text exchange between me and mom on your way out:
See you next time :~)
This newsletter brings me such joy!!!
parallel mothers is a drag!
